Church 9000 Preamp setting
« on: April 19, 2008, 02:00:52 PM »
Hi everybody,

I just got my Preamp9000 (with ST11 card and Omnis) and want to use it with my line-in of my zoom h2 or maybe iriver h120.
It will be a little loud show and I don´t know how much the knob has to be turned on the preamp...

Just turn it a little so it´s "on" or do I have to turn half way up or more? I am afraid that it will be too loud then for the line-in.

If the knob is turned all way up, is it just 100% of the sound or does the knob gain the sound?

Thx everybody  :D

The output knob should be at max. The gain switch should be at +10 and the settings on your H2 will depend on the acoustic level of the show.

Thanx Chris.
So you think it will not be to loud at line-in with full turn and +10db?

But I still would like to know, if turning the knob will add more gain or does it just go up till 100% of "inputvolume"?  :D

I've recorded Rose Hill Drive in a small club at +10dB full gain on the knob.  Not sure it gets much louder than that.

I always set the 9000 at +10db and turn the knob all the way to the max.  Haven't done any terribly loud shows, but have had nothing but good results.

Always leave the knob at full!!  It's a volume control not a gain control.  Even if the knob is somewhere other than full, the recorder will still see the full gain structure of whatever you have the switch on (+10, +30, 0)
