what is the standard run time using 2 AA's running phantom?

I'll say that w/ the TL's, which need 48v phantom, I wouldn't push it past 3 hours w/ Duracell 2650 nimh cells.    W/ the Beyer's I can get over 5 hours since they're happy w/ the 12v phantom option  on the mp-2.  Here's some alkaline info from the manual:

With the headphone out down all the way and the lights off regular energizers will get 2hours+ and energizer lithiums will get 3hours+.  That is running the power hungry audix at 48ph.  I haven't ever had the need to run any longer.

Sort of off topic....Is there any tradeoff in running MC930s at 12V compared to 48V? Does it matter? Is there any affect on the sound quality or SPL handling?

Sort of off topic....Is there any tradeoff in running MC930s at 12V compared to 48V? Does it matter? Is there any affect on the sound quality or SPL handling?

The mp-2 manual says that "condenser microphones that can operate on 11-52 volts will not have a performance benefit with 48-volt phantom; therefore 15-volt phantom is appropriate.  The 15-volt setting will increase battery life versus the 48-volt setting."   

Oh yeah, I got the low-power phantom voltage wrong eariler.  It's 15-volt & not 12-volt.  I've been running them on 15-volt for a while and haven't noticed any issues compared to when I ran them at 48-volt.

I'm planning on running sets with 12V and some running 48V using MCE400's.

i only use internals if i have to be uber-steathy.  they never lasted long enough it seemed to me, i only had a solid 2 hours, afterwards, the voltage would drop and brick wall the mics.  (fwiw, i was running standard energizers and rechargeables with AT853s @ p48)

now i use a wally LiON 9v to power the unit.

The SD Knowledge base on their website does describe some issues certain 11-52V variable voltage phantom mics have with an occilation issue they call "motorboating". Their fix is to run at full 48V, even with mics that can run with less, despite their otherwise stated position that there is no benefit with running 48V with these mics. YMMV.
