Thanks for the share. I'm still glad I went with the DMC-LX7. Much better for low-light. :)

This continuous recording time for video in the specs is confusing, and still looks like the 30min limit?
http://panasonic.net/avc/lumix/compact/zs30_tz40/specifications.html
Continuous Recordable Time
(Motion Pictures)*1 AVCHD with picture quality set to [FHD/60p, FHD/50p]: Approx. 75 min
AVCHD with picture quality set to [FHD/60i, FHD/50i]: Approx. 80 min
MP4 with picture quality set to [FHD]: Approx. 90 min
Actual Recordable Time
(Motion Pictures)*1 AVCHD with picture quality set to [FHD/60p, FHD/50p]: Approx. 30 min
AVCHD with picture quality set to [FHD/60i, FHD/50i]: Approx. 35 min
MP4 with picture quality set to [FHD]: Approx. 40 min
*1 These are standard times taken at a temperature of 23°C (73.4°F) and a humidity of 50%RH. The time available for recording varies depending on the environment, the interval between recordings, and the manner of use. Actual recordable time is the time available for recording when repeating actions such as switching the power supply [ON]/[OFF], starting/stopping recording, zoom operation etc.
[For Europe and some Asian PAL areas]
• Maximum time to record motion pictures continuously with [AVCHD] is 29 minutes 59 seconds.
• Maximum time to record motion pictures continuously with [MP4] is 29 minutes 59 seconds or up to 4 GB.
[For other areas]
• Maximum time to record motion pictures continuously with [AVCHD] in [FHD / 60p] / [FHD / 60i] is 29 minutes 59 seconds.
• Maximum time to record motion pictures continuously with [MP4] is 29 minutes 59 seconds or up to 4 GB.

Ziggz,
The "Continuous Times" are how the long the camera will record for at the specific setting while the "Actual Times" are caused by the limit of the file system on the card (4GB). My Panasonic DMC-LX7 has the same problem as does my Samsung SDHC Camcorder from 2009 -- it has to "stop" and close the file at the 4GB limit (and it loses whatever was happening during this time).

Just purchased this camera off of eBay! I can't wait to try it out ( :
I will be seeing Faster Pussycat in April, and I'm hoping to use this camera at this show.
I already have the ZS3 & ZS7 so I have high hopes for this one ( :

Got mine from B&H last week. The intelligent zoom feature is a monster, actually looks pretty good zooming at 35-40x.
Downside(s) 29:59 limit at 1080 60 p/i and the battery is lucky to get just over 1 hour. No limit @ 720 60p, and got 1hr 30 on battery. That's just sitting idle with no zooming.
Will be testing it at a show next month to see how good/bad the audio is.

I got a ZS19 recently, so not entirely sure if its the same battery, but I just went to a Batteries Plus and picked up a Rayovac extra. I didn't do any research to see if it was a decent battery but it has the same specs as the Panasonic one that came with the camera.

I ordered 4 batteries from this online store:
http://www.eastcoastphoto.com/battery/panasonic_lumix-dmc-zs30_digital-camera.html (http://www.eastcoastphoto.com/battery/panasonic_lumix-dmc-zs30_digital-camera.html)
Priced at $15.95
I really hope they are not out of stock or something.
I will post more when the batteries arrive!

I currently have a TZ10 and am thinking of upgrading to the TZ30, can anyone tell me what the audio quality is like when filming metal concerts.
The TZ10 has some kind of auto-level control on it which automatically lowers the sound when the guitars/drums kick in, but goes loud again inbetween songs.
Does the TZ30 have the same problem?
