Title: Anyone using Cooper CS 104 Mixer with Sound Devices 702?
Post by: RichardDevine on July 30, 2011, 01:08:51 AM
Hello everyone this is my first post here :D,

I was curious if any of you have used the Cooper CS 104 mixer in conjunction with any of the Sound Devices 7 series recorders (front end). Do you guys find it adds any more gain? punch? coloration? was thinking of getting one of these second hand to use with my 702 recorder. Thanks, I mainly will be using it with my Neumann RSM-191 A/S kit, Sanken CSS-5 and DPA-4060's. Mainly looking to use this for recording sound effects. Any opinions, suggestions welcomed. Thanks Richard

Richard I use mine with a 744 from time to time.  I had the four direct out mods done the Cooper before Andy retired.  The pres in the SD recorders are good, but I think the Coopers are better.  If money didn't matter, then I would go with a SQN front end.  In the years I have owned the Cooper it has not let me down, on the otherhand some of the SD products I own have.  I have a SD302 being repaired right now.  If you can find a CS104 for $1200-1400, you will have an excellent mixer.
