Title: 6v sla voltage at full charge?
Post by: caymanreview on September 24, 2004, 11:31:34 AM
i work with non-sealed lead acid batteries, but ive never really ran any SLA's untill now

what should the voltage be on a good/decent 6v sla when fully charged?

im used to 24 and 36v non-sealed sla's so i dont really know

the physics should be the same (all based upon 2 volt lead-acid cells wired in series) -- thus the fully-charged voltage of a 6v sla should be VERY close to 1/4 the fully-charged 24v battery

my 24v batts run ~ 25.5-25.9 fully charged and about the same with my 36v batts- 37.5-37.9

so we are talking ~ 6.37-6.4V

this sla must have some issues. ive had it on the charger for 4 hours this morning and about 4-5 hours last night and it is still ~ 5.7V

If I remember correctly a 6V at full charge is 7.45.  I can check later today and let you know.

yep, and it is just charging the shit outta the rest of them to get the voltage up, becuase the charger doesnt know any better :-X

happens all the time at work, but they are non-sealed and put out quite a bit of hydrogen when you try to cool em like that

thankfully this was my last week as the battery bitch, now im forklift maint. tech!

my 6v are usually at about 6.4 volts after they rest about a day or so, when charging, they are at about 7.5 volts tho FWIW

that sounds about right bean. no more SLA for me. im pretty positive this one is fried

i gues im gonna have to take on the walmart lion pack tomorrow ;)

i was gonna do it anyways, but i had hoped to sell this oade sla/charger to help ease the pain

anyone need an oade charger that has float, for 6v and has a 4pin on it?

it is just the oade charger that has a constant light for fast charge and a flasher for done/trickle/float

hmm, thats weird, let it keep going, at least its in the 'operating voltage' right now, another 6 hrs or so should get her to full trickle, but just leave her on there awile, it cant hurt :)

d00d, i let my slas sit on the charger for like 2+ years, no worries w/ the trickle :)
