Does that mean that we will be getting some more detailed ideas/thoughts soon? :-)

Guys, sorry I didn't see this thread before. I translated that manual for them, and could have helped you out if I had only known. Are there still any questions outstanding?

In the future, please let me know if you run into any problems with Schoeps technical or sales publications; I generally work on the English versions of pretty much all their stuff. In fact I'm currently struggling to get the new edition of their main catalog out the door ...

If you have a high quality english PDF version, I would love to get a copy... no rush, just the one i have is a bad scan.

Thanks

It might be a good idea to get every manual you have and post them in the archive? That would be very beneficial.

I am sure we could find a place to host them, etc. Thanks for offering!

I will gladly host manuals if needed, I have space on either of my hosting server for small things like documents.

We usually put them in the TS Reference section of the site (http://www.taperssection.com/reference/) and then link to them in the TSKB | Archive | User Manuals forum...assuming it's okay to host them publicly, of course.

Guess I forgot about that spot... I dont see why any of the Schoeps or VMS manuals cant be put there, as they are freely available from Schoeps, but I believe the VMS02 line is out of production and thus out of print.

It isn't necessarily doing people a favor if you archive materials which are also available directly from the source. Corrections or updates may occur more often than you might realize, and you can easily be left distributing an out-of-date version that has wrong information in it.

It would be far better to give a list of links to the various manufacturers' sites and where they store their latest versions of the information. Just a suggestion.

True, but if you check the link from Brian, you will see that many of the manuals included were never published in digital (IE PDF) version, and these have been scanned and/or provided from the users of said equipment.

A good suggestion, and one about which we've thought before..  The User Manuals section originally started out as a place to archive manuals that were no longer available from the source.  It just kinda grew from there, and we've tossed up some others in case they disappear from the source (and some have disappeared over time).  Since the Mods aren't necessarily interested in expending the effort to maintain links to the direct source as they change, archive the manuals offline / monitor their availability / make them available online only when they disappear at the source, etc., we just kinda leave it alone and throw up new ones if people ask.

Seems the sensible approach for anyone trying to find a manual is to go to the source first, and only check here if they're unable to locate it elsewhere.  That's what I'd do, anyway.

maybe a nice disclaimer to that effect at the beginning? Perhaps copying some of DSatz's language?

ATTN: Before relying on a manual contained here within the TS.com User Manuals section we recommend that you first check the manufacturers website. The manuals contained within TS.com may or may not be complete and up-to-date.
