Cord noise
« on: September 21, 2004, 01:36:06 PM »
Hiya,

I'm a total newbie when it comes to recording shows, i've been doing some test recordings lately, and i've noticed that moving the cord even the slightest bit makes a horrible sound. When I hold it very still, everything sounds alright. Got any suggestions what should I do to minimize the cord movement and the sound?

The cable between the mic itself and the MD. It's brand new, could it still be faulty? Works fine with headphones. I know my mic is crap, but I don't think it should be causing this.

actually, im curious more about the connection points than with the cable.  are they clean?  can you try a diff mic with your setup and see if that works?

This is the only one I have :(. Between the mic and the cord, there is maybe 1mm of the metal exposed. If I hold it tightly in my fist, I noticed I can move the mic around as much as I like, with minimal sounds from the cable. Any ideas what's going on? Should I tape up the connection with electrical tape etc.?

Thanks for helping out!
