« on: December 17, 2003, 12:37:58 PM »
Can I just convert my WAV files to FLAC, delete the WAV's and just convert when i need to burn it on disc or listen to it? I have a heap of shit on my HD and I'm loosing space. I like to back my CD's up on HD, will puting them in FLAC help or will I loose and Quality in the process? Flac seems to be half teh size of WAVs...IKS but I thinn this is a good ideer...hmmm

flac is lossless, you can delete the wavs if you need to and decode the flac's for burning without losing any quality.

why don't you delete the wavs, burn the FLAC files to data CDs, then you get *ALL* of your hd space back?

and instead of going wav>flac and erasing all those wavs, just set it to "delete input file" and the wav is gone as soon as its converted into a flac file, one simple step...... 8)

so youll go wav>flac and the wav will be GONE phorever 8)

then id burn all that onto disc, and walla DONE and done 8)

If "deleting input file," I would also make sure to check "verify" just in case for some reason the FLAC fails to get created properly, it shouldn't delete and you haven't lost all the work you did to get that file. (Does it do this even if verify isn't checked?)
Out of the game … for now?
