i'm at least going to TRY the minime  :P
although it is supposed to go very well with gefells compared to the V3.  When I first planned on buying the minime I didn't see my deck dying yet.

It's a tough choice, on the one hand dat is what i'm used to and it means less gear to carry and less new stuff to buy, but a nomad means no more tapes and really fast transfers..
I have a FOB of the Dead M.300's>V3 Charlotte 04 if you want to hear what that combo sounds like.  The CO2 and 3 are not "always" bit perfect (YMMV, some people have problems, some don't...kind of like the JB3) and the hosa has a good rap.  GO for the cleaning/eval as Chris K said...then see what you are in for...

I think I'm just going to go with the jb3 :)

As for the D7 being at least 12 years old I don't really want to sink any money into this since it could die at any time.  I wouldn't mind getting it fixed as a backup some time in the future but I'm pretty sure its days of being a main deck are over.  I'll look into it but I think it is time for a new deck.

Chris how much did it cost to have the d8 aligned?

i think it was $75 or maybe a little less.

i would suggest sending it to paul to get his opinion. if its gonna cost more than you want to pay then he can return it to you.  then you can get a replacement dat or jb3. if its cheap to fix, i would recommend getting it done

i still bring my d8 with me when i use the jb3. although i have not had any problems in the 2mo i have had the jb3, with my luck something will, and i will be glad that i have the d8 as a backup.

i dont rum both  the jb3 and the dat but i have the d8 ready to go in case of emergency/jb3 failure. and honestly i use the d8 for the metering alone which is far superior to the meteres (if thats what you call them) on the jb3. i think the jb3's meters are just to tell you 1)there is signal, and 2) if you go over that little line you are over/clipping

the other good thing about having the dat also is i can get a 2nd source for patching on shows i tape where there are others taping too. patching with a 2nd jb3 and with a 2nd hosa box is too much.

my 2 cents  :)

or buy a jb3, Hosa ODL-276, and a 9.6rc battery pack + i still need a 12v battery for the mini me

You can power the MiniMe off of 9.6 v rc packs, too.
