recording on 5g ipod
« on: October 26, 2005, 02:42:43 PM »
Hi,

I bet you all know by now .. but I wonder has anyone has the chance to try it out by now ?!

It´s only 16 bit, but an ipod would be *very* easy to get into venues, I believe ... this is essential for our fellow stealthers (who know the harsh security environment these days)  :-\ ...

Quality something like that ? Not bad to my ears ... http://ipodlinuxinstl.sourceforge.net/ipodtest.mp3

(see Article: http://www.macworld.com/2005/05/secrets/julygeekfactor/index.php)

If anyone has news on this - would you please report ...

Thank you!

By the way: Is Microtracker stable by now ?

ipod linux is far from stable on anything above a 3G ipod.  Recording on a 3G ipod with ipod  linux is far from stable, but it does work at 16/44.

That sample is from a 3G ipod btw, and not a 5G.  Here is the info about the mp3 link:
http://ipodlinuxinstl.sourceforge.net/faqs.html

You also need to modify a dock connector to record in stereo.

You need to install iPod linux to record at reasonable specs.  You don't need any accessories to record with ipod linux either.  Overall this is not a reliable recording option.
