Question about my ART Studio MP V3 preamp...
« on: December 25, 2003, 09:29:27 PM »
I  bought an ART Studio MP V3 preamp. I hooked my mic up to the preamp then to my D8 both through the 1/4"  jacks. The mic works fine. My question is why would I be getting noise almost like static from my output jack on my preamp? I have used 3 diffrent cables, tried every setting on they V3 and it still does it. If anybody uses one of these or has an idea why this is doing this any help is much appreciated! Thanks :hmmm:

Are you certain that the 1/8" analog mic/line input on the D8 is fully functional? I have had this jack go bad before in an older D7 of mine.

Are you running line in? You should be. Have you tried running out of the XLR out, or just phono plug?

Hey guys thanks for the help.
Jason B  I thought maybe that was the problem but I put the mic directly into the 1/8" mic in and it works fine I run through the amp and I get static and I loose the right chanel.
What did you have to do to fix your old D7?
Swanny I tried running through my line in but I get no signal. I usually run throught the line in and it has always worked fine but not in this situation.

perhaps there's something wrong with the amp? kinda sounds that way.....
Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."

Try hooking it up to anything else with an analog in (soundcard, cassette) and see what happens. It would give you noise if you have to run mic in on the D7. You would only be getting one channel if it is a single mic preamp. You could get a splitter @ RS and run into both channels.

9v ac I believe. I used to run one in the field, ART tube MP (its older brother.) It is a pain in the ass though.
