charging the m148
« on: January 02, 2004, 02:25:05 PM »
can you over charge an m148? I plugged the thing in to charge on NYE and just got home and realized it was still plugged in. I'd gues it was on there for nearly 40 hours. It was probably at about half full when I plugged it in. The meter moves all the way to full now, which is good I think.

I'm a dumbass...

Doug apparently has said float for no more than 48 hours, I think you're fine, Tim. I've done 2 days a few times, no problems. And that actually seems to put an extra charge into the thing. I noticed the first few times I used it that it would very quickly go down to red, now after several 48 hour floats, it will stay green/red for a LOOOONG time. I got 8 hours at the xmas jam.

that was more for the new guys  ;)

thanks Marc... I usually just charge it when I get home from the show and take it off in the morning. 3:1 charge time to use time is what I have been told.

Doug has told me it will go into float so it can NOT be overcharged, don't sweat it.
I know you like, tape for people's approval and stuff, and wave your tapes around like they're your dick...  but even you can't actually think section tapes from philips sound good.

I'd hate to ruin this thing, it's probably my favorite piece of gear.

that's gonna be a real shame when it gets repo'd.

It's mine.... I'm buying it, if the caps reappear.

either way I'm not giving it up!

although I did consider using my DAC money to buy a V2... you know, just to have around.
