Topic: Techflexing Schoeps KC5 Cables

For those of you that have techflexed Schoeps KC5 cables can you tell me if this size techflex will work for a pair of KC5 active cables? 

.25 Techflex Petco (Techflex PTN0.25) worked great for a pair of Milab VM44-Link cables but the KC5 cables are a larger diameter than the Milab cables.

Naiant produced a pair of 60V Schoeps KC5 PFA's for me and I want to use it with the KC5 cables that I picked up.  I want to remove the CMC6 ends of the KC5's and replace those "amplifier body connector ends" with 3 pin, mini-xlr connectors that will attach to the Naiant PFA. 

I will retain the CMC6 connectors for future use if ever pick up a set of CMC6 bodies and want to utilize them.

im interested to know about the techflex sizes as well, i plan to do it to a set of unmod'd KC5's soon.

Whatever you end up using, Dactylus, I highly recommend a small piece of this rubber, stretchy tape that molds into itself for a waterproof, airtight seal, at the ends of the kc5's Techflex, to hold it snugly in place! I just take a small 1"-2" piece of the rubber tape, and then stretch the hell out of it by pulling from each end. And its easily removable if you need to remove it!

do you guys like the techflex for simplicity, or for low profile??
i like the idea of techflex..  but find it kinda bulky.
but it does do it's job in helping the cables from getting kinked.

Techflex is not low profile in my opinion.

The right size techflex really isn't "bulky" if applied by one of our resident cable making professionals!!  I have seen several DIY techflex jobs that are bulky looking, but with the right size techflex, applied professionally, it is the ticket as far as I'm concerned.  I have other options for low profile...  I do NOT want to deal with cables that are knotted and unruly.

Exactly my reasoning for having it on every cable that I own, except the Schoeps KCY cable[it's already very durable and pretty low profile]. It also makes the cables MUCH more durable and rugged IMO too. It will extend the life of ANY of your cables for basically as long as you have them, but only if the Techflex is snug and secure at both ends That's why I used that Rubber, Stretchy tape on both ends of my cables with Techflex [from the pics above]! Like Dactylus said above, Techflex really helps your cables from kinking[or at least keeps you from seeing exactly where they're kinked lol]], and aren't "bulky" at all, if the right size Techflex is used You should want/have your Techflex pretty tight around your cables to keep them from kinking when applied correctly! You don't want much open space inside of the Techflex or the cables will kink and it will be a bit bulky IMO!

And smart move having DarkTrain do them! He's made every cable in my arsenal, and will certainly do a great, professional-looking job on your KC5's! I'd love to see a pic or two once he's done with them If you obviously didn't have the Collette's on both ends to deal with, then a really small size Techflex could be used, instead of having to use a wrap that goes around the cables.

I will NOT be using the wrap techflex.  Darktrain will  remove the cmc6 connectors and replace them with 3 pin mini-xlr's.  Then I will run the KC5 cables with a Naiant PFA or a cmc6 "accessory cable (mini-xlr)" + the cmc6 connector.
