DAC stopped working with Win 11 update
« on: March 03, 2025, 09:54:40 AM »
DAC D1 audioengine. I've read online that a win 11 update may be the cause to my D1 stop working, it worked fine then stopped working. I rolled back the win 11 update to a previous version, but it still doesn't work. I get loud squelch from speakers when the rca cable is attached. I purchased a new D1, same.
I have also used 3 different usb ports, one one computer, Dell Inspiron 16, 2 multiport
Any suggestions? I order another brand DAC, waiting to get it and see if it works

My D1 audioengine stopped working too, with Windows 10.  I switched to a Focusrite Scarlett and it works fine.

Some people suggest that connecting the D1 through a USB 2.0 hub solves the issue. Some had success with a powered hubs, some with non-powered hubs. I'd guess most chance of success with a powered hub... Might be worth a try if you have one of these laying around.

Find the program start file
Right-click on properties Tab ,and see if Compatibility for Windows 10 is an option
That sometimes helps
All those old Windows 10 parts were never really removed during the conversion

FWIW, I keep my DAW offline, no update except by USB transfer and very limited on that
The update probably turned sounds and notifications and other "features" on as well.
I don't risk ransomware, viruses, etc. to mess with my recordings
Email on phone, other PCs are all the distractions that I need.    ;)
