Topic: Tascam Poratcapture X6 Opinions

I am going to reclaim my Marantz PMD 661 MK2 that has been in my son's hands for the last few years (with an Ode warm mod). He also has my AKG 463's that I started out taping with - I'll let him keep those, but I'd like to give him something that will 4 track with xlrs and a pair of buit in mics so he doesnt lose flexability and gains 2 more channels. The Tascam looks like a good fit but I am concerned about the pre amps and wonder if anyone has experience with this model.

Suggestions for something I may not have considered are appreciated as well.
