Title: SP- CMC-8 or SP-CMC9 or SP-CMC-4U
Post by: Lucidnight on May 22, 2018, 10:35:13 AM
I could have made an easier title and just say sound professionals mic suggestions?

With that said, I am looking into buying new mics.  Those three are what I am debating, SP- CMC-8 ,  SP-CMC-9 , SP-CMC-4U.  However, I am open to other suggestions.
I usually stealth indoor venues shows ranging from a few hundred people in attendance to sometimes  large scale shows.

I know personal choice is the best indicator to buy, so I have been listening to shows using different mics but am open to anyone's suggestions. Here's where I am at and looking for:

I am curious, with a budget of no more than $500, which would be the best choice of the mics stated above, or any other suggested mics?  I prefer a cleaner sound.  While most shows I record are in venues of about 1,000-3,000, sometimes I am in larger arenas, so is there  mic that would be better in either or both environments?  How about further back in an arena?

I currently own an Edirol 09 and CA-9200 battery box, but am open to buy another power supply.  I also already own omni's, so am looking for new cards currently.

Seconded.  These can pull some very good recordings.

Thank you for some feedback.
Luckily none of you are selling me a car with my next question, but is there a reason why the CMC-8, 9 and 25 are double the cost of the 4U?
Especially if most recommend the 4U for recording concerts?

Are there any benefits of the other mics to the others, in personal opinions?

Also, my budget for card mics is $500, so if there are other suggestions I will look at that.  I really do appreciate the feedback for the CMC-4U.

Thank you!
