do these exist? I doubt it but since i seem to be in need of this I thought I would throw it out there. Thanks in advance.

Do you mean the Switchcraft TA series of connectors? If so, there are no right angle versions. The standard TA(*)F connector is 5 cm long (the female connector is most commonly used). It's easy to cut off the rubber boot to make a 3.5 cm long connector that remains largely intact. Cutting the boot further could yield a 2.5 cm connector without any strain relief which would need some kind of epoxy-like fill. 2.5 cm is about as short as you could go.

fuck yea it does.
I"ve made a few RA stubby TA3 connectors, they have held up thus far.
pretty much make them w/the same "recipie" that I use for standard XLRs. Epoxy in the right place, a good fat piece of shrink-tube. You ban bend the metal sled that would crimp the wires in place to form a "right angle"..., and still fit the housing over the pin assembly.
then a THICK piece of shrink wrap over that (and epoxy to hold everything inside the metal housing) and it holds up nice. Pretty? no. Functional, Yes.

I have made one by request but didn't like it very much, i did some playing around with the bodies and sort of notched it out like on my regular stubbies, the guy i made it for liked it but i just wasn't sure if it would hold up under wear and tear, he was using it for stealth

well i guess they do make them... but i agree $35 a pop is fucking crazy. i guess i will just keep my eyes open. the straight cables work fine i just can't close my bag when they are plugged in so that is an annoyance to me.

looks like you can just buy the connectors RatPac for $35 for two connectors. seems a bit expensive

The $35 connector is about butt ugly anyway, I'd take your custom one over that

the straight ones run about $8-12 per piece, depending on where you get them.
so the RA customs wont be anywhere near that price.

OK, wow, the first site looks like someone took notes from TS cable makers. Except for the single direction where cable exits, of course they may offer options I can't read German. The second that epoxy looks SLICK!

Tried it last night and it's definitely doable, both right angle or straight stubbies, but if you need to use the mini xlr chassis as a ground it's very difficult. I did not use any of the internal components expect the piece with the actual pins. Without the internal metal piece, its tough.

With Mini-XLR connectors? I don't see anything on your retail thread specific to stubby mini-xlr connectors and per your own post in this thread (see above) it sounded as though you deemed their feasibility to be questionable when you tried it last. Let us know if this is not the case!

Oh its doable and i have done many, long term, eh, even those ones in that pic i can see the "pitfalls" with them, now i havent modded the newer neutrik mini xlrs, those could possible be better suited for mods, i have used them not modded and they seem a lot sturdier

Awesome... I didn't even know that Neutrik was making these now and I see they're 1/5 the price of the Switchcraft version. Time to place an order!
