I have never made a battery sled but it should be simple enough.  It would seem to me that you would want to use 2 9v batteries in series to get 18v, which is plenty to run the sax.  I would be willing to look into it but it can't happen until I get back from Texas on the 25th of September.

Are you back in the Dallas/Forth Worth area, Ted?

Yes from Mon 9/19 - 9/22, then off to Rochester, NY for the weekend.

Maybe this will work?

It's a NiMH so it won't last forever but should last a while.

Can't speak for Bean, but my guess would be that with a sled you can keep feeding it batteries all weekend long and never run out of power.  That said...Bean Ted's right, you'd probably want a 9V sled, or maybe something with two 9V in parallel so you could hot swap them.  AA batteries are only 1.5V each, so it takes 12 of them to get 18V.

Just buy one of these and be done with it.

I love mine.  Will run forever (ok, not forever but two days at a festival before needing recharged).

You do realize that it will take close to 12 AA batteries (at 1.5v) to get you toward optimum voltage and still have around half the running time that you would get with a tekkeon or the battery above. 12 AA batteries together is almost the size of the sax.....

Yes, Page, I'm aware of that. Actually, rechargeable AA's are only 1.2v ;)

So I realize I would need a lot, but I don't care because I already own [32] x 2300mah NIMH AA BAtteries that I use with my LittleBox and M10. That's why Id rather my external powering being done with AA's :P ;) That way I wont lose power AT ALL during festivals WITHOUT RECHARGING :) That's the KEY. WITHOUT RECHARGING ;) I usually try to record every set at festivals, and that just doesn't allow CONTINUOUS RECORDING :( I HAVE to change batteries. But whatever :P

So ANY HELP PLEASE ??? Ted, I can DEF wait til you get back around. Safe travels and I'll hit you up when you get back :)

Ok, if you don't want what most consider the optimal solution, then I recommend using lifepo battery cells (lithium phosphorus).

http://www.batteryspace.com/High-Power-LiFePO4-26650-Rechargeable-Cell-3.2V-2500-mAh.aspx

6 of those will power your sax at optimum levels since they opperate at 3.2v instead (aprox 22v at start, and maybe 16v at dead, nominal just above 19v). Now, you'll have to buy them (plus charger since they aren't compatable) over using your existing AAs, but it will be smaller. What's your priority? Space or convenience?

Convience of using the surplus of AA's I have :P ;D 8)

But since you need 12 of them to get you up to 18V, that's only enough batteries for three complete changes (you'd need to buy another pack to get your three full battery changes).  Is that enough to get through a weekend?

Yes, and I can ALWAYS buy more batteries ;)

Looks like my solution is rechargeable 9v's and a modded KCY LB :)

Bean ur going to spend more on all that than picking up a couple of tekkeons. I would get 2 tekkeons and maybe one extended battery and I'm sure you could make through any festy. Throw in a couple packs of 9v in ur bag just in case. That way u get ur sax for everything.

I refuse to use Tekkeons after reading the threads here on ts.com ;) I DEF PREFER the life of NIMH batteries over Li-ON :)
