Anyone ever seen this in action? I just got a set of Joe Meek 27's recently and got a nice phantom adapter from DMBprez in the YS here, but I think I may need more gain for the acoustic stuff I'll be recording most times. I was looking at this because of the price mainly. I've been buying a bunch of stuff lately and I have to curb the spending drastically. I may be able to squeeze in something like this without my wife getting really pissed, but no way I can go over that at the moment.

Ask me in a couple of weeks. ;D
I ordered one today... $65 shipped from a company "Audio Discounters"... never heard of them before... but they were the best price I found with an exhaustive 2 minute search. http://www.audio-discounters.com/dmp-2.html I'm having a problem with mic > cable > preamp and I'm not sure which component is sick. I needed another phantom powered preamp so I could mix and match, and this was cheap enough for this test. I figure I'll play with it for a month, decide it's not something I really need to keep, and sell it in the yard sale.

I'm going to order one in the near future. As you can understand, I've got to cover a few bills first.

I went ahead and ordered one. I'll report on the unti when I get it in. Is this thing new to the market or something? I haven't found any reviews on it. There are numerous places that have it stocked but the reviews are always the same generic lines the company gives.
-
did you ever use it? what is the report?
ninja.

I'm curious how many 9V this thing takes and how clean it sounds. What do you get for 2 channels of preamp at that price?

Something about this is really tempting for a backup rig. If I bought one, would Chris or Richard have any interest in poking around inside of it?

I bought one and played with it a little. When my LSD2 was acting up I needed to try another phantom powering preamp, and it was cheap for this test. After that I used it at a couple of shows to see how it sounded. I'm planning to trade it to Chris Church, and hoping he will upgrade the components in the Nady and report back to us.
From what I can see, it's reasonably clean. For newbies who are using phantom power box > line transformers, this preamp is probably a significant improvement. I would say it's "personality" is pretty neautral. It's not bright, or warm, or any particular flavor.
I ran a comp one night for Assembly of Dust at Hampton Beach (8-23-07). I had 2 sets of Nak300s, one set Nak300 > AD20 > H120, and the other set Nak300 > Nady DMP2 > R-09. I did this test just so I could post results. Unfortunately most of the show is total audience chatter, so I didn't seed it, but here are a couple of sample MP3s. Draw you own conclusions.

Hope that helps.

Here's another comp of sorts. Set 1 LSD2>Nady DMP-2>iRiver, Set 2 LSD2>Denecke PS-2>R09.
