Title: Is there such a thing as a low-profile / stubby PFA?
Post by: adrianf74 on March 31, 2024, 02:48:14 PM
Just in the process of trying to limit the amount of connections with my decks and know that PFAs normally come in a full-barrel XLR at the deck end but was wondering if a shorter version is at all possible?

Having an F3, I’m trying to determine options that get me away from an nBox and allow me to go mics to P48.  I realize something like the CMC 1 U is also an option if I wanted to head back to Schoeps-land but trying to with all options.

Thanks all.

Yes there is none, but could there be?

Not the extended barrel but the standard shorter ones?

the circuitry more than likely wouldnt fit inside.

I think there is a stand alone pfa setup with breakout cables. that moves the circuitry out of the xlr etc.

I'll also add what Nick had to say about it:

Quote
There is no way to fit the pfas in a stubby..only way would be to insert a stubby to stubby pigtail

So that answers that.  Only workable options I'm seeing, unless I've got it wrong, is to run with the stubby to stubby pigtail solution _or_ use the existing Baby nBox solution or go with one of the Schoeps CCM solutions.
