Title: small playback heaven
Post by: MattD on March 13, 2004, 03:37:21 PM
I found a set of Sennheiser HD-600s on Audiogon for a nice price, and since my old headphones (a $50 set of Panasonic RP HT1000s) are starting to fall apart, I jumped on the deal.

The cans arrived today and I gave them the standard listening test - the same stuff I play to try out anything new. I knew they'd be good, but THIS good? My ears were transported to where the mics were set up. From studio albums to 24/96 live stuff, they set a new standard, something that I'd never really experienced before.

For all of you thinking that a top-notch playback system is too much $, get yourself a DAC, headphone amp, and a good set of headphones and experience it for yourself. My system is nice, but if I want to take the room out of the equation and keep the neighbors happy, this is all I need.

+T in spirit to the guy who sold them to me.

I've enjoyed my 535's for years , but they're pretty beat up now, but still sound good.  I'm undecided whether to just get new ones or get something better suited to studio applications.
