Izotope bundles
« on: September 29, 2024, 06:32:16 PM »
So I have been looking at purchasing Izotope RX standard, based on the many positive comments here, as I have several shows where clapping mid song (jazz) or concert talkers (almost everything else) is taking away from an otherwise great recording.

Currently, RX standard costs $539 CAD plus tax. Needless to say that is a serious investment in software to remove some clapping and other irritants.

I notice that the music production suite (which includes rx 11 standard, ozone 11 advanced, neutron 4 and a number of other applications is $799.

I’m hoping that there is a Black Friday sale or something that makes this more manageable but am wondering if there is any value in the other software, given the relatively small price increase from RX 11 standard.

Does anyone use any of these other applications and find them extremely useful or should I just wait and hope rx11 standard goes on sale and pick that up in its own?

Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

I use iZotope RX, and while it's a great program, most of my regularly used features can be done with a little work in cheaper programs. Me personally, I wouldn't pay that much for it.

Rx and Ozone are the only ones that are of any use for our purposes, imo. The rest are for "music production". If you have your own band and are wanting to produce your own recordings, you could find the other apps useful. If you are a keyboard musician, well, that is what many of them are aimed at.

What do you use Ozone for?

There will almost certainly be a Black Friday deal on RX.

Thanks for all of the help. It sounds like RX is all I need to deal with clapping, and the odd yell or other miscellaneous noises.

I will wait for a sale to pick it up. It doesn’t sound like the other apps are really necessary for what I’m doing. I do some home recording in addition to concerts but my main use case here is to clean up live tapes.

Thanks again for the help!

Primarily for the dither and vintage limiter. I rarely use any kind of EQ, but it great for that sort of thing when I need it. I also use Imager, but that is available as a separate plugin.

Do you own any other Izotope products? If so, you will be eligible for a "Crossgrade" price, usually a significant bargain.

If you don't own any Izotope products, you can watch for a sale on RX11 Elements. I have seen "Elements" products offered for as little as $19USD. This will qualify you for "Crossgrade" and "Upgrade" discounts, the latter offering the steepest discount.

Another tip is to monitor some of the large plugin retailers for deals, often not available on Izotopes' site. My preferred is Plugin Boutique, but you can also have a look at Sweetwater, JRR Shop, etc.

I have been a RX Advanced user since V3 and have upgraded many times (currently on V10 Advanced, purchased as part of the "Everything Bundle" a year ago). Everything actually means everything in Advanced versions, current at that time. For that upgrade I paid less (I am also Canadian) than your quoted price for RX11 Standard.

Take advantage of the free trials and they will likely start feeding you coupons :). It will also allow you to become familiar with the interface and workflow, so you are ahead of the game when you get a chance to trade up.

^^ That is helpful context and solid advice, thank you. I will try the trial version and see what offers that generates.

Edit: sorry I should have mentioned that I do not own any Izotope products yet.i didn’t download the trial previously because it said that it didn’t support exporting which I assumed meant I couldn’t save files I had worked on. That said,I will download the trial and see what offers I get.

I don’t see any great deals on elements yet (plug-in boutique has the same pricing as Izotope’s website today) but I will check both heading into the holiday season and see what deals come up. The ability to remove conversations over music and generally “clean up” recordings really seems to good to be true and I’d be happy to buy software that did this effectively for a somewhat reasonable price.

Thanks again for the post. It’s very specific and helpful.

I used a sale code to get RX7 Standard for $20 several years ago and that unlocked a bunch of upgrade deals every time a new version comes out.

If you don't need it right away hold out for an introductory offer there will be one before the end of the year. I got mine through B and H Photo.
