Title: JB3 transfers
Post by: treydaman on March 12, 2006, 10:52:39 AM
Im having troubles transfering my recordings from my jb3 to my PC. when I connect the sb1394 cable to my computer a "noad is connected" icon pops up in the corner but creative play center says the nomad is busy or not connected.I am a jb3 newb but have checked out the jb3 question thread and it didnt help.
Thanks for any help..

if youre on xp, d/l one of these two drivers and try again :)

and make sure you have firmware 1.40.06 for the best/most stability

I have 1.40.06.... could this be a case of a bad 1394 cable?

i dunno, try the usb and see if it works

maybe just retry the jb3 disc and see what happens, also try restarting the comp, that does wonders

man getting the jb3 to work with some copies of XP is an absolute nightmare.

of 4 or 5 different computers i've (tried) to hook it up to, all running xp:
one took me an hour of reinstalling and uninstalling play center and the jb3 drivers to finally get it to work
one worked fine with the jb3 then a few months later would not recognize it and to date will still not recognize it
one refuses to work with any version of the drivers, creative playcenter or the sveta portable amp

dunno what the trick is, thank god my primary computer has no problems recognizing it (knock on wood)

good luck

after installing one of those drivers, mine recognizes almost 100% of the time ;D

mine takes me a few trys (not a lot of clock time) before actually showing up. the creative software says that it's there, but the jb3 doesn't show in the creative window. i think it's a matter of getting it done in the correct order.

my workflow is different

1. firewire is always plugged into comp
2. keep jb3 power off then plug in 1394 cable
3. once 1394 is plugged in, turn on jb3

same here, except as soon as i plug the firewire into the JB3 it powers on automatically

i think the workflow of how you go about installing the driver/software is what is key

now I'm really confused ??? So there goes that theory... Did this ever get resolved?

im wondering the same thing, either way tho, im sending him my extra jb3/usb cable to see if that helps, cause when i try to upgrade firmware once i reformat the jb3, it ONLY lets me use the usb cable, somtimes 1394 is fine, VERY picky at times can the jb3 be :)

I use this: http://www.redchairsoftware.com/notmad/index.php
You still need the creative drivers but this app smokes the other creative software.
