Topic: wavelab5 resampling question/help

so, on Friday at Panic I managed to record set 2 in what seems to be 16/64 kHz.  Needless to say, that set sounds like the chipmunks on speed.  I tried to resample in wavelab5 to 16/44.1 kHz.  But, it doesn't seem to be resampling.  Any ideas as to what I'm doing incorrect?

My steps have been:
Tools >
batch process >
input / open file (set 2 only) >
select my output directory (my desktop) >
select sample/bit rate >
run

am i missing something?

sounds like the wav header was not written properly.  The computer thinks it is @ 64K when it is really @ 44.1k, thus the chipmunk sounds

I think this is easy to fix, hopefully as other figure out the site is back up they will chime in with a link to a solution.

Go to process>hit resample>choose 44.1. Repeat for each file.

I'd use r8brain for resampling.  or use the Resampler 192 plugin with Wavelab.  I don't like Wavelab 5's rative resampler.

What differences do you notice between the plugin and process resampler in Wavelab?

it is a easy fix.  I'm going off memory here but I think this is what you do.

open the original file (the chipmunk one).  go to edit > audio properties > change it to 44.1

I'm 99% sure that's how it's done.  I've had to do this a few times and it worked.

hard to put into words.  take a 24/96 file and resample to 44.1 using r8brain, Wavelab5 native, and Resampler192.  I did quick and easy experiment and found r8brain and Resampler192 sounded better than Wavelab5's native resampler.  I use Resampler192 in my 24/48>16/44 workflow because I can use the batch tool in Wavelab5 and not have to reample in a separate application.  I stopped refining my 24bit>16bit workflow a few years ago since I don't ever listen to the "decimated" versions of my recordings - there might be something better out there now.

I have had this problem as well, improper wav header not needing to be resampled, just telling the program what the file really is...

In wavelab, the bitrate and sampling frequency are displayed in the right corner of the status bar at bottom of screen... single click the to get the dialog needed to set proper info.

so....looks like when i converted down to 32kHz....it sounds much better.  BUT, doesn't look like i'll get it into 44.1.
