« on: November 10, 2006, 04:52:35 PM »

I've tried through notmad and the creative software, but it always
tells me that it's unable to move the files....HELP!

I know others have experienced similar problems based on previous threads.  More detailed info may help others help you, things like:

  • What troubleshooting have you tried so far?
  • What does "unable to move the files" mean?
    • Are you able to view the files, but not select them in No(t)mad Explorer?
    • Or are you able to view and select them but not drag them to another folder?
    • Or are you able to view and select them and drag them to another folder but nothing happens when you do so?
    • Or are you able to view and select them and drag them to another folder and the copy starts but then it aborts mid-stream?
    • Or...something else?
  • What is the exact text of any messages you receive when attempting the process?
  • What firmware on the JB3?
  • Trying to transfer via USB or Firewire?
  • What software / driver versions are installed on your PC
  • Have you un- and re-installed all software?
  • Have you tried skipping PlayCenter during the re-install?

I've had this problem a few times on different computers and it's always something different.  Sometimes the FW works but the USB doesn't.  Sometimes it's reversed.  If the FW isn't plugged in exactly right, it won't work either.  I originally had to update the firmware when I first got it or nothing worked.  Sometimes it will error out in the middle of a transfer if I'm doing other things on my computer.  I just keep trying different things until I can get it to transfer.
