need preamp advice
« on: February 27, 2011, 11:48:39 PM »
rolling with the Tascam dr-2d.

I have a pair of mxl993s that I plan to use in conjunction with a line-in from the board, mostly.  I was wondering what sort of preamps I should get to attenuate the board feed, and also something that I could use for the mics to go into the line-in while using the internal mics (or to use 4 externals; a friend has a pair of Oktavas he lets me borrow from time to time, and my drummer has a pair of old Neumanns, so at some shows where I can't get a board feed, I can roll 4 mics at once.

I need something versatile and small, but not terribly expensive.

Thanks for all the help.
