My question is about battery life of a mixpad 4. On the website it says batteries will last 12 hours, but can you run one with phantom on for that long? I just wanted to make sure before I go out and tape. THANKS!
-
I run it. Glad someone asked about this. I run AKG C1000s with it. I love it. I dont get 12 hours with it. I get about 9 with phantom and never tried it with out phantom. Only problem is that i run through 9vs like crazy. Those crappy $1 batteries you get about 6 hours and nice enegizers you get the 9 hours. Dave from micsupply is working on an alternate method of running it. But i think itll be interesting to see what happens. I looking to get a SBM1 to run with it. That would be my rig until a got some earthworks. Thatll be the day.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm going to buy rechargables eventually, but untill then I'll be able to run good batteries for at least two shows right, 9 hours? THANKS!
-
Yeah thatll be fine for two shows. Ive gotten 3 shows out before. You'll be fine.
-
cool, thanks

i ran into a guy at a panic show once that had one he was powering with an 8 or 12 D sled...cant remember exactly
he said it would run for a week solid...probably a slight exaggeration, but a sled would probably work well.
-
What is a sled?

hope this helps. 8)

yo know one of those little do-hickeys you can get from rat shack that holds 8,10, or 12 D-cell batteries.
I'm not sure if you wire a plug for the ac jack onto the sled or wire it into the battery contacts.
anybody else help out here..
-
Ah, thanks!

Well, what are the voltage requirements. A 2 d-cell in parrallel runs 12volts continuous I think. 3xD cell's would give you roughly 18 volts DC. Does that sucker require 18? Seems like a lot.

You're over my head D...I have ben trying to figure that out for 10 min.
1 D cell battery is 1.5 volts, I know that ;D
What does the mixpad require? voltage wise
-
15V i think
so could you use 10 D cells?
-
for 15v I would make a sled for 12 recharagable Ni-Mh
why waste money and trash the enviornment with throw away batteries
-
That is what I eventually plan to do, but I don't have enough money to do It by the end of the week. (Poor highschool kid ;) ) Thanks for all the help.

Hey Alex what year are you and where ya from? Me 10th grade maryland and my name is Alex too. Crzy

15V i think

if summing batts to increase the voltage (series) you do not also increase run time.
the opposite is also true.
if summing batts to attain longer run time (parallel) the voltage is not increased.
this should shed some light on the issue:

hope this helps.
