Yeah, but the selfish bastard only put one chair in the room, for another kidney you can sit on the floor.

I found his discussion of the measured response of the room quite interesting--on one hand, the room sounds awesome...  On the other hand, the room has a peak and a null that are close to 6db, which should be quite noticeable (well, in a sweep, maybe not in real music).  You can tell by his discourse that he is bothered by it.  Ha.  He should have never had it measured--now his nervosa will have him thinking "what if..."   :D

Very cool to see what you can do with unlimited funds...  And a desire to listen to music instead of be part of your family.  I would never see my wife/dogs/family if I had that room.  A few years ago I got rid of the "dedicated listening room" and it was the best thing I ever did.  Otherwise, I was always holed up in a room with odd soft things placed every which way, listening to tunes like I was a crackhead in need of a fix.  Now I just do it in the confines of a normal domestic household  ;D

Ducati,

I noticed this as well and wondered why the modeling software did not pick this up?  I'm wondering if the software used by these "designers" takes into acount the various properties of structural components, materials, and boundary conditions.  I assume it takes at least the density into account as well as other linear material properties. My structural codes are much more accurate as 6dB is significant.  You would think his room would be ruler flat with as much money spent (although I'd bet this is nearly impossible).

Air driven / suspended system.

Thanks. +T

That's completely insane. Who knows though? If we all had that $ to play with , we'd probably come up with some crazy stuff too. He's probably made arrangements to be buried in that room as well. :)

I'd prolly listen to music in that room if I owned it.  Maybe... :-\

I bet sports radio sounds sick in there.

After reading the reviews I'm surprised....   Dude spends $75k on a record player and it doesn't even self level that fancy smancy air balancing system.

From the review:
Quote
I simply pushed a switch and, within a few minutes, the +200-lb plinth had risen on a bed of air supplied by the air-suspension system. I had to level it pneumatically via three small knurled knobs. This is critical—the frictionless arm will slide in toward the record center or out the other way if the 'table isn't precisely leveled. In fact, the only way to level it correctly is to counterbalance the arm/cartridge with a temporary counterweight (I made one from a pipe cleaner and a wood screw).

If I were to ever have a room like that or a sub like the one posted, well I wouldn't have it for long.  Spending all my time with my $$$$$$$ system would probably put me in front of a judge and the wife would be taking it.  I'd make sure and get the dog to hit her where it really hurts  ;D ;D  Who am I kidding she would never let me do any of it in the first place.  Now putting that kind of money into a boat (Sunsation 32' Dominator with twin blown Merc 525's) and a 2500HD to tow it is a different story!
