debating going for either an sbm-1 or an ad-20
anyone know which is best for the dpa's. I may just run line in to my D7 since I really only got the dpa's for a few stealth shows but they're so tiny I may want to use them for more then I originally planned, too bad the UA-5 is a tank..

I think the sbm-1 is just a flat out better unit. I'd go with that, especially since you can avoid going through the a/d of the d7 that way.

I think you're probably right.. I actually owned a stock sbm-1 before i got the ua5 which i use with gefells.. (used the sbm-1 + line transformers with oktavas)
tough to decide if i want to put more money into a stealth or stand rig especially since i havent done much taping lately..
decisions decisions

I ran 4061s>AD20 for about 2 years and then made the switch to the 4061s>mod SBM1 for a few reasons: the mod SBM1 combo sounded better to my ears, the SBM1 is slightly smaller and you need fewer cables (if you run a portable Sony deck), much easier to set levels in stealthy situations with the SBM1, ‘over’ lights on the SBM1 also help tremendously when running stealth. Hope this helps...

Andrew, you're such a gear whore! haha. Even when you're hardly taping, you're looking to upgrade.
-
SBM, no doubt.

I liked the SBM1 before I had it modded, and I am lovin' it now...
dpa4060 (powered by cs batt box) > mod sbm1 (line in) > d8 (via 7pin)
I'll have my recording of Thursday's Banyan show up sometime today (waiting for a ftp d/l to finish first)....
