I noticed a lot of manufactures are selling ambisonic mics now: Sennhesier, Rode, etc. in $1000 range. But Zoom is selling this one for $350.

Price is commonly around $250 now.

I've got the Zoom.Very nice performance and low noise recording.
I use it for all my recordings now.
I really like it because record and (stereo) playback is all in the unit.Plug in headphones and you can rotate the image on playback.Brilliant real world interface.
Take a stereo mix on line out and you're done.
No computer needed !
Now simply replace those four (analog) inputs with better capsules.

Maybe. The device is likely to be internally calibrated for that specific capsule at a system level (at least with regards to the exact diaphragm spacing, if not response), although probably not at the specific unit and specific capsule-level as Len's mics are.
