Well, I know that you all will say, "depends on the wind". But I am actually just curious if anyone uses them with the CA-14 omni's for typical breezy conditions at festivals. Also, has anyone tried these by MOVO?
I can see myself loosing some and this package is very affordable with backups. Thanks

Depends on the wind. ;)
Foam screens are typically sufficient for omnis. I suspect little furry lav screens will work fine.

Yep... I knew it. I've spent enough time on here lately to predict the jokers and the jerks. I had you pegged for the Wizard of Taperland, but glad to see you a joker too. Cheers

I've used CA dead rats over the foam screens and the foam screens only on CA-14 omnis with success.

When I had CA14 omnis/cards as my 2nd rig back in the day, I would use them in my 2 channel active delrin bars[NOLABars], with a small piece of tape around the "body" of the ca14's, to make them big enough to comfortably sit in the delrin active bars! Then I would slide my BAS screens[what I had back then] over the whole capsule+active bar ends, so that the BAS totally covered up the ca14's!
But if you're not running a stereo bar like I was, I would DEFINITELY grab the Movo furries you linked in the OP! I have 2 pairs of BOTH the Movo WST50 & WS80, and absolutely LOVE them and their quality! Maybe not handmade in the UK like Rycote, but for their price and quality construction, I think that the Movo's are the way to go IMO 8) :)
EDIT: If the WS10M's you linked above are NOT adequate enough to help the ca14's in some decent wind, I'd suggest getting some SMALLER foam screens that would fit the CA14's perfectly, and THEN put a bigger foam/furry screen OVER the smaller foam one, and you'd have double protection, and could record in much windier situations as well ;) I seem to remember doing something very similar like that with my oldest pair of CA14's back in like 2011! I remember having some tiny foam screens, and then I put the BAS over those! I walked away with recordings with ZERO wind and didn't notice any loss in the HF range! I'll try to figure out which shows I tried that and report back with the links!
And HAVE FUN with whatever you end up with, Chris :) 8)

If in doubt, better safe than sorry. If you're looking at 5-10 mph winds, you should be safe with the attached wind screens. If you are in excess of basic normal breezes, you should use the dead rats. If it's very windy, unless you're close to the source, the wind will screw up your recording anyway! Hope this helps.

Exactly! Phase Shifting the imaging and everything can REALLY FU&K up your recording :(

It was super windy at 9800ft elevation. I used a 2nd pair of normal SD mic windscreens, so we will see what it sounds like when I get to processing this week.

If you need the "extra" windscreen, the dead rats are your best choice. People don't use them because they're fuzzy, we use them because they work. I can handle up to 35-40mph winds without any wind noise with my regular set-up (with the rats)...but of course the recording at that point is going to suck anyway :really_sucks:
