Okay so I can't for sure label this a formal comp but thought some folks might find it useful.
My bread and butter rig is DPA 4023 > Lunatec ACM V3 > 744t
Anytime I am only running one set of mics I will record digitally out of the V3 (utilizing the ACM mod) as well as run analog out of the V3 into the 744. So I end up have two sources with the only difference being the A/D section. When tracking I also will process and FLAC both sources for my own archives and will usually seed whichever source I prefer. 99 out of 100 times to my ears its the ACM V3 version.
As another board member was considering an ACM modded V3 I sent him the following file (379 MB):
http://www.filedropper.com/acmv3compfilesFor the basis of this comp I just took some tracks from four different shows at four different types/sizes of venues to give some idea as to the sonic differences between the two A/D sections.
Nothing source-wise is hidden. I labeled each track so you know what is what. If you'd like to pick the method of this comp/test apart have at it as I don't care and don't profess this to be anything other that two different A/D sections.
Love to some hear thoughts.
