Church Mic CA 11 windshields
« on: July 26, 2009, 12:28:51 PM »
Greetings from the UK.

I bought some CA11 mics and preamp from Chris last year but have lost the supplied windshields. I am hoping to tape an outdoor festival next week and was wondering if anyone can point me the direction of a UK source for suitable windshields as I know the leadtime from Chris will be too long. All the ones I have found on the net have been way too big.

Thanks for any help and also thanks for all the information I have gleaned from this site over the last 12 months.

I wish I could help you I have windscreens in stock. I think that even if the windsreens are bigger they will be fine if your not using them for stealth if you are then thats another problem. If not use an elastic around the back of the windscreen over the cable.

I'm in the same boat as Rob having dropped one of my windscreens on the way out of taping Oasis - only found out when I got home.  I'd also like to source a replacement set so any help would be appreciated.

Where are you? If you're anywhere near London I can lend you some mini-dead rats. They're for CMC2s (with screens under the dead rats), but would probably fit, and would be better than nothing.

I can make some up given a few days, and dims of the CA11s, it's a bit fiddly, but I can sew OK.

I reckon rycotes pass more sound though. Mine reduce the top end but can save a recording. Tested at Hyde Park..

Thanks for your offer Humbug, unfortunately I am in the Midlands and fly to Turkey tomorrow for a week. The day after I get back I am off to the festival so time is against me. I'm going to buy some of the large ones I've seen and try and adapt them the best I can whilst I order some from Chris Church.

Cheers.
