Title: Canon Vixia HFM31 low light settings?
Post by: lsd2525 on November 04, 2017, 09:36:57 AM
Re: Canon Vixia HFM31 low light settings?

Usually leave on auto; going to be running tonight in a theater that always has low  light and the recording always comes out grainy and crappy. I've never fooled with the manual settings. What setting do I need to adjust for this? Any help appreciated

Try setting your aperture around 1.8-2.8 if possible. If you can set the ISO, set it to 800 or 1600. 1600 will probably give you some grain in the video, though. Alternatively, you could live with the grain and make your video black and white! Hope that gives you a place to start. Good luck tonight!

Sorry if this is abit late, I have the HFM40, and from my experience, you would not find the options available from xjsb125. What you can try is to set your Auto-Gain Control to Manual and limit it to 3, 6 or 9db. See which settings make you happy for the noise levels.
