Title: Squeezebox/SqueezeCenter question (FLAC Tagging)
Post by: nickgregory on May 14, 2008, 11:07:27 PM
So I just got my SB and loaded SC on my PC and all of my files showed up categorizied properly except a bunch of my FLACs.  When I was searching around on the SC, there was an artist category "No Artist", and when I open that, there are all of the flac files I am missing.  I am guessing the problem is that these are not tagged properly, is that correct?  And if so, what is the best/easiest to implement method for tagging them?

Thanks...

I am pretty impressed so far.  Pretty slick device and the interface, while not as slick as ITunes is fantastic (and this is more a statement of how great a program ITunes is, not that SqueezeCenter is lacking in any way).  Once I figure out this FLAC issue, it will be truly sick

so I guess what you gus are saying is that the reason these dont show up in squeezecenter is because they arent tagged FLACs properly? :P

Nick,

I just went through the exact same thing. Love the SB Duet - has changed how i listen to music.

I went through a bit of pain setting it up - first security settings on my wireless network, then converting ~ a TB of shn files then ensuring everything was tagged correctly, album art attached...so on and so forth....but boy was it worth it.

Aaaanyhoo, I suspect this little post may help you: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35676

check out the live show tagger for foobar2k - it will tag the files based on the source info file - very easy to use as long as the .txt file is formatted right

ah another good point, I have some old shn files that I guess I need to convert to wav and then to flac and then tag...

check out the live show tagger for foobar2k - it will tag the files based on the source info file - very easy to use as long as the .txt file is formatted right

nice, this is the kind of solution I was hoping was out there!

grab dbpoweramp converter - you can go directly from SHN > FLAC to save yourself a step

Yeah, I told him I had cash in hand and would come to his house after work (a few hours) to pick up.  Never heard from him...

Oh well...  Better off...  If I had spent that $170, I wouldn't have been able to buy the Vintage Crossbows and Catapults on EBAY last week:  http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/2129#desc

Yeah, I haven't figured this out yet either.  I've called a slimdevices a couple of times and I still can't figure it out.

The Squeezebox is a remote playback device that receives streaming audio over a wired or wireless network from SlimServer (or is it SqueezeCenter these days?).  SoftSqueeze allows you to use a computer as a remote playback device either within your home over a wired or wireless network, or over the internet.  And the playback on the computer is synchronized with the playback on the Squeezebox and other remote playback devices.

Yes, the Squeezebox plays FLAC files directly off your HD.  Wireless or wired
