Title: UA5 battery, would this work?
Post by: The Other Chris on October 15, 2019, 03:34:01 PM: Would this work for powering a UA5? I have the adapta plugs & cable needled, maybe some cutting/cable splicing needed?

That's overkill, but you could run it all weekend without worry.

The unit you're looking at has a bunch of negative reviews on Amazon:

And, based on the unit's weight and reviews, it's possible that the 9800 mAh is based on the 3.7 volt cells, not the full 12 volts. So you may be getting 9.8X3.7=36 WH (or 3000 mAh at 12 volts)
That's not out of line for $25, but this looks like a bare-bones battery pack, with a shrink-wrap cover.

Myself and several of the TS members have been using the TalentCell lithium battery with good success, and I'd recommend it.

I've run my UA5 with the TalentCell 9 volt output, and simultaneously run my Tascam DR680 with the 12 volt output, without issues.

You can opt for the 100 WH TalentCell model ($50) and fly with it as a carry-on without a hassle, or get a little extra power with the 132 WH unit ($65) and have to notify the airlines when you carry it on...

Edit: no I cannot, the dr70 runs off 5 volts.

Post by: rumbleseat on October 16, 2019, 09:42:17 PM: If you have TalentCell battery, you can absolutely run a DR-60 or DR-70 from the 5 volt USB outlet at the same time as running the UA-5 from the 9-volt jack. The USB port will supply 2 amps which should be more than enough to run either of those two decks.
I've run a UA-5 from the 9 volt jack, and a DR-680 from the 12 volt jack at the same time with no issues.
