Ok I taped my first show tonight.
Not so good.
The vocals and the crowd came out stellar. But the heavy bass distorted my recording at the loudest parts. It was a small club with alot of speakers.
For one, I droped on of my mic screens in the toilet while setting up, so I recorded with no screens on. Would that make a difference? Also I could not check levels during the show due to security, I set them all the way to the right. (I am a noob at audio taping, I know) If tomorrow night I turn the levels to halfway and use screens will the recording sound good?
Thanks for the help
Peace
BTW i was using SP-CMC-8 cardioid mics pluged into a battery box, pointed at the speakers and had selected M on the Microtrack.

Screens won't make a differnence, just make sure your levels are more reasonable before you start. Good luck.
-
OK thanks, I will set them about half way up and cross my fingers.

Heres a clip,
Let me know if the level was my only problem.
Thanks

One More Clip...
-
1.set your levels correctly
2. use a battery box w/ a bass roll off feature
-
I don't have a bass rolloff because soundprofessionals told me not to buy one, and honestly im not sure how to set the levels. In your opinion would halfway up the chart be ok?
Thanks

That actually sounds pretty good (sans distortion of course)
go with the 1/2 way point on the levels and if it's too low you can add some volume in post.
