Sam Bush - 09-12-2008.

If there weren't 3 other tapers who had the same thing happen I'd be worried.

We had a great, carefree night of taping and enjoying music in a situation where we didn't need to stand over our gear the whole time. Levels were great for the opening band and were looking good for Sam. A few songs into the set, we walk over to check our levels and all of our right channels had dropped. On listening to the clip, it sounds like something hits the mic, but that's (apparently) not the case.

Oh... and only the right channel of the Schoeps mk41 {NOS} is affected. The Neumann u89i {Subcard, split ~15ft} is not.

I guess the levels dropped on the right PA speaker?

I would say by listening that there was something that blocked the soundwaves for a few seconds.  and that also helps explain why its no on the Neumann source.

I had exactly the same issue for a while. Turns out it was caused by my cables. I'm guessing there was a short somewhere along the run, as the ends at the connectors were fine.

I'd also begin by checking all your mic switches (roll off, pattern). I had a recent issue caused by a slightly jostled pad/roll off switch as well.

Pockets full of nickels and nothing left to eat, and I'm stuck behind a semi on Soniat Street.
