Topic: Speaker foam replacement

I was just given some old Sony speakers. They sound awesome and work flawless, but one of the woofers foam is torn, no big effect in sound I can hear. Normally I would try to do the refoam myself but I don't want to try it for the first time on these speakers. Anyone have experience doing this? Any info would be awesome, thanks.

I've done this job on a couple of sets of speakers.  Doesn't make me an expert.

Look for a replacement foam kit for your particular speakers.  The job basically requires you to remove the foam from the existing speakers.  To align the voice coil, you cut off the speaker cap and shim it with three shims from your kit.  Then you glue the foam to the speaker cone and to the speaker housing.  Let that dry. 

Then pull out the shims and glue a new speaker cap on.  Wait for it to dry.  Done. 

Got to be careful using an exacto knife doing all this.....
