[old and in the way]

Anyone use these they are supposed to be a close rendition of the nueman 84 . they sound good and i'm thinking of adding a stereo kit to my arsenal . will use them mainly on acoustic gigs but ill see how they work else where. like to know what you think about them . transistor mic should be a smooth sound and it seems to have a flat curve and high spl. plus the kit comes with omni's .

Neumann promoted the supposedly flat frequency response of the KM 84, but that is true only by comparison with their previous small cardioid (the KM 54) and within the bounds of their usual tolerance limits. The microphone definitely had a low-frequency rolloff and some high-frequency emphasis, and prior to Catalog 100 (1977) the company was quite open about this. For example, the attached response curves are from the 1968 "fet 80" catalog.
