R-4 transfer help
« on: February 27, 2007, 01:22:12 PM »
arghhh

I was in the middle of a file transfer using external power (i know i should not have been) and the dog ran thru and knocked the table and unlugged the batt, causing the file to stop.

now i re-start the R-4 the computer says"USB Device Unrecognizable"!
i can play and listen to the shows on the HD on the external speakers of the recorder, so I know they are there.
I recorded another test track too.
and i have 2 more shows before i go home and can really dig into this.

what should i do?
use a CF card to X-fer file by file when I get home?
if i re-formaT the box i'll loose the previous shows

thankfully it seems i will be able to tape the next 2 shows...

anyone ever had a similar experience turn out well?

 >:(
lesson learned and then some

tim, any different result when you connect to a different USB port on the same machine?  or a different machine?

and you have the 4gb compact flash in the r1 -- you could use that to slowly migrate files, no need to wait.  i've never done that before, not sure how it's navigated, but i'm sure it's easy enough.

call me if you need me, we can brainstorm realtime maybe.

Have you rebooted and tried again?

re-booted over and over, tried a pC/apple/tower/new cable etc

I will use the CF when I get home and then HOPE that when I re-formatt it all works out

I think there might be some disk utilities on the R4, check those out, might help might not?

I would call Edirol tech support.  The number is on their site.  They have been very helpful to me.
