Title: How long do you prefer the output wire from your battery box to be?

Just looking for some opinions...24 inches? 8 inches? Something else entirely? How about hardwired vs. removeable?

... long enough to reach plus an inch or so is cool with me.
But it would depend if said recorder had a remote or not. If not I'd make it a bit longer, maybe a foot of play.

I hate having excess wires/cables coiled/stuffed in my bag.
I have a little external batt. box for my MT, and I only need about a foot, but I get like a meter.
