Title: AUDIO TECHNICA AT-LP120-USB stylus trouble
Post by: kylieshotpants on May 07, 2014, 04:18:42 PM
Hi

hopefully someone can help!

I recently bought one of these and was pleased- until I started playing 7" records on it (which did not have a run in groove!).

The needle bounced off onto the slipmat & bent :(.  I have ordered a new one for £25.00 - which was a bit of a shock.

Can anyone recomend a more tough stylus?  my old turntables needles took a few knocks but lasted ages.

Am I right in thinking that as the headshell is universal I could attach any suitable stylus on such as Numark Groove Tool?

thanks in advance

If your needle jumped off the record I suspect your tracking force was too low. Also, not sure what you mean by a 7 inch without a run in groove. What cartridge do you have and what is the recommended VTF for it?

As to the stylus, I believe the stylus must match the cartridge. A universal head shell only means it can accept any kind of cartridge.

Hi

Thanks for your reply I had the standard cartridge Audio Technica AT95E Moving Magnet Cartridge.

The 7" was weird- intestead of a run in there was a locked groove on the start- which I did not see- so placed the needle to the record- and it flew off!
