What's wrong with this picture - odd looking waveform
« on: August 21, 2004, 01:45:41 PM »
After transferring this DAT I noticed that while tracking it in CDWAVE there appeared to be a straight line throughout the WAV file.
Any ideas what this is?  There is no audible problem with the recording.

For transfer I used 60ES > Waveterminal u2a (48 >44.1) > laptop

Thanks,
Josh

DC? I don't know how you wouldn't hear that!
Out of the game … for now?

could be DC, what about white noise or something like that, a tone from the pa
created by the amplifier ???

This looks like a CDWave display problem.
The total waveform in the top view shows no deformation.

A DC component would appear as a shift of the waveform above or below the centerline (zero).

I think it's a DC offset problem.  I ran the analyzer in Goldwave which detected an offset. It automatically corrected it and the waveform went back to normal.
Strange. ???
