Cute FTP Uploading Question
« on: January 08, 2004, 10:28:30 AM »
I've been using cute ftp for some time now with no problems, but last night i was trying to upload my band's flacs to the etree archive and half way thru the upload i would get popups saying that i could either redo/continue/quit the upload.  i clicked resume but i would get same popup 2 minutes later.

then i was uploading mp3s to my website and everytime it finished one in the queue it would try to do that upload again and the same popup as earlier would appear....

anyone had this happen?  know how to get rid of this problem?  basically i have to sit there and watch the uploads/downloads to make sure they work now....sucks

Aside from the popup boxes, do you see any error messages/codes displayed in the FTP log window?  If you see anything there, it may help you track down the problem.  There's a listing of error codes and what they mean in the knowledge base on GlobalScape's website.

no the files uploaded all the way.  it says 100%, but doesn't say "finished", goes right to "waiting".

i'll check for errors when i get home to see...i don't think there was errors.  is there a "time out" with cuteftp.....but thanks for the advice on errors at GS's url

yeah - sounds like an incompatibility.  At the end of a file transfer, there's a confirmation step that is failing, so your client tries the transfer again.  I've had people experience the same thing with cuteftp on my server.  It's a combination of client and server, which is why you may only experience it on some sites.  Change your ftp client.

ws-ftp still has a free version ws-ftp LE (and you can store all your sites)

I bought Bulletproof a few years ago and have never looked back.  At the time, it was the only one with queuing and the option of saving whole sessions.  I'm sure those features are no longer exclusive to Bulletproof...
