Title: linking 744T recorders using c-link

I swear this pandemic is just costing me ideas.

Has anyone done this successfully?

A comment on 788T stuff recently made me look back into running 2 digital inputs into a 744T and this is where I ended up.

Help me waste some time.

seems like it would sync the word clock between units to keep all analog inputs in sync

any digital inputs would still be on their own clock, unless you have a way to feed the synchronized word clock from the sound devices units back to the ADCs you are using to generate the digital signal. generally any stand-alone ADC has the ability to take a word clock input and use that as its reference

once about 12 yrs ago. we ran three 722s.
it was problematic. forget what happened but we didnt try again.
we've used the clock sync with great results

Here it is:

sounds like a giant pain in the ass just to get 2 digital signals in sync.

Even though SD only mentioned Ambients units in the FAQ - a UltraSync ONE should work as it is capable of outputting all sync modes. Timecode, genlock & word clock on its two output.
