Title: External Soundcard/Box for Mac Mini
Post by: RyanJ on May 20, 2019, 08:48:34 PM
Hope this is making sense.

I want to hook up my Tascam DAT deck, MD deck and Nakamichi cassette deck for transfers into my Mac Mini. Only things I am really looking for is being able to playback LP mode DATs. I remember that my optical in on my macbook couldn't transfer LP mode because the computer wouldn't recognize 16/32kHZ.

Is there an internal soundcard box that has the capability of hooking up RCAs for my Nak deck and then optical in for my DAT/MD deck? I have been searching B&H to no avail. Almost everything I've seen has TRS inputs with an optical in.

Thanks for any help!

Internal sound card for a mini? What year? Guessing too old for the optical in...

Perhaps that was a typo, and you're searching for an external solution, as your post title indicates. One option is the Roland R-07, which does that since the firmware update, and isn't too spendy, and you get a  >:D recorder as a bonus.

Older mac minis has min SPDIF ports. Otherwise something like the Zoom U-44 will do what you want
