Title: Switching IPOD from PC to Mac
Post by: blu666z on July 08, 2004, 01:59:15 AM
Girlfriend had a PC and used her IPOD with it.  She just bought a new PowerBook and wants to use the IPOD with it now.  What do I need to do to switch the file structure and is she going to lose her loaded songs?

format the ipod.  then using the ipod as her hd drag all the folders from her music library onto the ipod, again as a hard drive, not in i tunes.  then on the mac, drag and drop all those files onto the hd of the mac and delete them off the ipod.  fire up itunes and resynch with the ipod- it will format the ipod.  then drag the entire folder of music straight into itunes and voila- you are done.  if you dont follow drop me a pm and we can work through it step by step.

I have never actually used an IPod but I think I can figure it out based on your help.  Thanks!

the reason you format is to clean the space- its gonna format for you anyways if you move the home itunes from one to another.

We were having problems getting the IPod to connect last night.  That's the only reason I thought I would need to switch formats.
