now that i have some bumblebees and will be running those full time i have a question about my interconnects. i run short (less than a foot) xlrs from the back of v3 so i can just plug in my normal xlrs to those and not have to move around the v3 each time i hook up my cables. only the short xlrs are canare and my main cables are the bumblebees. am i losing all the positive aspects of the bumblebees in the short length of canare or is it so short that it hardly makes a difference?
did that make sense?

man, i just made those interconnects too. shucks.

hmm..good question Ed. I recently had to do this at the vic show.
Leegeddy interconnects. thats the ticket.

yeah, thats what i'm thinking. it'll happen shortly.
thanks again for those cables bud, i've only used them once so far, but i totally dig 'em

the purists cringe, and others shrug.
Moke is making a very good statement with very few words. Let me translate from "the purists" POV:
If you have some excellent cables, why use the interconects at all even if it is to prevent moving your gear around.
IMO, unless the V3 is welded in to a rack mount, it can be moved a little at the beginning and end of each show.
From an "engineering" POV, the added 1 foot of cable, plus extra set of connections adds the "potential" to add 1] impedence, 2] shielding/grounding issues ( i.e. if cross wired), 3] potential plain old bad connection, 4] having to protect the extra connection from rain, beer, external environment.
If you're not a purist, then of course, you shrug and say what can an extra foot of cable and 4 more connectors hurt?

i'm thinking i may do some rearranging to my bag now and see what if i can make it easier to work with.
-
what about leaving the bumblebees always connected to the V3 and coiling the rest in the bag when not in use. when you get to a show, you only have to connect the mics to the other end of the bumblebees.
-
i tried doing that with my old cables and it works for awhile, but after a couple of times out of the bag, the cables get tangled on themselves easier. and i eventurally end up with a mess. if i take my time coiling and uncoiling its not so bad, but its nice just being able to get all my stuff together at the end of a show as quickly as possible.
the interconnects were mostly there just cuz it was easier for set up/tear down.

running those 'normal' cables makes running the bumblebee's useless IMO, once the signalk hits the canares, the signal is only as good as the canares
i just had leegeddy make me a pair of 5ft bumblebee interconnects for running split omni's, that way i can plop em up on there and i dont have to untie most of my nylon ties around my bumblebees, also, i can now get up to 25ft of silver cable for running larger split omni stuff
but i think it will be a nice 'extension' pair IMO, and for running split omnis in outdoor weather, i will simply saran wrap the xlr>xlr cable on the stands :), that way the xlr>xlr connection is water-free :)

nice thinking bean +t
i'm gonna try out some different things, see what i like best.

I always leave my mic cables plugged into the back of my v3, then just coil and uncoil them to attach mics at each show (as nic suggested). I keep my cables taped together every 12 inches or so to prevent tangling. Works great. Peace.
