Title: XLR connector options
Post by: balou2 on June 06, 2006, 02:15:33 AM
I'm still on my cable intelligence journey.

What XLR connectors are available for cables?  Neutrik seems to be the connector of choice, but I just don't think that highly of them.  There are also many low-grade options out there.

So far, the one I like the best is from Atlas.  They are custom, direct silver and gold plated OCC XLRs, and besides being beautiful, are damn pure. (see image)

Specifically, I'm interested in medium to high-grade connectors...nothing Neutrik-like.

Any thoughts?

Furutech makes some expensive ones -

I haven't seen these around, but the description makes them sound like a good choice, particularly this statement: "Each contact allows the termination of wire to be completed via solder, set-screw, or both" -

Vampire makes some too, but not sure how much better they are than Neutrik's -

Other than seeing these on sites while I was doing research on some other connectors I was looking for, I have no experience with them.
